My Story
Growing up I went to school in Hemingford, Nebraska which is about 20 miles north of Alliance but ended up transferring to Alliance High School at the start of my freshman year. I graduated from Alliance High School in May of 2019. I had a great childhood growing up getting to hangout with friends and family and being involved in sports year round. Both of my parents were coaches my whole life and are still coaching to this day so I have always been around sports and have always had a deep passion for them. Both of my parents are also PE teachers which is a big reason why I also want to be a PE teacher after I graduate college.
I have two older sisters, the oldest is Sydnie. She is 28 and is a kindergarten teacher in Alliance, and my other older sister is Madi who is 25 and is in nursing school in Alliance as well. Both of my sisters each have one kid and Sydnie has another on the way. I am very proud to be the uncle of two beautiful boys and can’t wait to meet the other on the way in just a couple of weeks!
Some of my favorite things to do are to play and watch sports. Like I said earlier sports have always been a huge part of my life and still are to this day. Growing up I played every sport I could which included football, baseball, basketball, track and field, cross country, and wrestling. I played all of those sports all the way through 8th grade. After 8th grade I decided to focus on just football, basketball, and track and field. When it comes to watching sports I love watching all sports but my favorites to watch are college football, college basketball, and track and field. It is just something growing up me and my friends always loved to watch together. Another thing I love to do in my offtime is play videogames with my friends. The games we play the most are Fortnite, NBA 2k, Fifa, MLB The Show, and Madden.
Some things I have coming up in my life are my dad and I have recently started a basketball academy with Jordan Hooper. If you don’t know who Jordan Hooper is, she is also from Alliance and went on to play college basketball at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. At UNL in her senior year she won Big Ten player of the year and went on to get drafted 13th overall in the WNBA draft where she played for several years. We came up with the name Hooper Hiemstra Basketball Academy or H2BA for short.
